Preview: Heat vs. Bulls (April 7, 2016)

The Miami Heat are in, yes, another must-win scenario tonight as they look to keep pace with the Hawks and Celtics for 3rd place in the Eastern Conference. They will look to do so against a Chicago Bulls team that i fighting for their playoff lives. They would need to win the rest of their games and then have the Pistons lose the rest of their games. Highly unlikely, but hey, it can happen. Therefore, Miami will need to be focused on winning tonight.

They are coming off one of their best performance of the season that ended in a 107-89 destruction of the Pistons. Led by 22 points from Dragic, the Heat beat Detroit for the first time all season and will seek to sweep a season series versus Chicago in who knows how long. Tonight is the perfect stage to do so. Here are the 3 keys.

  1. Defend the perimeter: The Bulls may not take a lot of threes, but they do convert a high percentage of them. The Heat need to run them off the line and force them to score inside against the Heat bigs. The Bulls are surprisingly a poor shooting team from inside the arc.
  2. Limit Gasol: Pau Gasol is the fulcrum of the Bulls offense. They will need to make him work for everything on the offensive end. With the combination of Luol Deng, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Hassan Whiteside, Gasol should see plenty of looks defensively.
  3. Dominate the paint: Chicago rebounds the ball pretty well, but they give up the most offensive rebounds in the NBA, which will be a green light for Hassan Whiteside to crash at will. The Heat should be attacking the Bulls weak interior on offense and should shut paint down of defense.

Here lies another opportunity that Miami can take advantage of, so they need to do so and then move on to the nest game.

GO HEAT!
